Jar (2005) is a sculpture by American artist Thomas Sayre. Inspired by the Wallace Stevens poem "Anecdote of the Jar,” the earthcast vessel Jar is a privately commissioned work on the edge of a large rural meadow in Massachusetts. Cast in sculpted earthen molds, Jar acts as a sentinel mediating the space between the nearby residence and the field and wetland forest beyond.
