Corpus Collosum (2009) is a public art piece by American artist Thomas Sayre. Corpus Collosum on the Anschutz Medical Campus at the University of Colorado is bookended by two fourteen-foot-diameter spheres, one made of roughhewn concrete and the other a smoothly reflective stainless steel. Between these bookends, a series of outdoor “rooms” are provided for passersby. Each room includes seating, lighting, and power for mobile devices. The outdoor spaces are designed to provide different types of gathering places: some contemplative, some playful.
